Batteries

Like last year, this year we are continuing to recycle dead batteries. This year, we collected many, many batteries in many shapes and sizes. Some were about the size of our hands! Batteries are melted to make many things. Some of those things are electricity, soil conditioner (a type of fertilizer) and two types of metal, steel and nickel. At Chapel Hill Catholic School, you can find the dead batteries at the front of the library doors and inside of the library. Why we collect them? To help those in need! Plus, it helps our environment. We also had a parent volunteer to donate  batteries from the city of Ottawa to our school. The batteries were collected by a company called Raw Materials. It has been a huge success in our battery recycling drive for this year.
